WHY IT WORKS:

“Qi, along with the theory of yin and yang (the harmony of seemingly opposite forces), are the two core components of TCM. It’s thought that a sufficient amount of qi is required to maintain the yin and yang of your body. When a person’s qi is balanced and in harmony, they’ll benefit from health, well-being, and contentment. When one’s qi is deficient, pain, suffering, and illness may occur.”

In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), a balanced Qi is vital to your good physical and mental health.

Acupuncture uses ultra-fine needles to achieve balance, or qi, by unblocking the flow of energy through stimulating nerve-rich areas of the skin based on your personal health and wellness needs. The response stimulates the immune system, promoting circulation to the area, wound healing, and pain modulation.

Based on your personal needs, your acupuncturist will select a variety of points to stimulate with tiny and virtually painless ultra-fine needles. This stimulates the lymphatic and circulatory system and signals the body to go into repair mode. Nutrients and oxygen are delivered to your skin cells, and collagen production is also stimulated. This results in an even complexion, glowing skin, improvement in elasticity, and minimizes fine lines and wrinkles.

Our acupuncturists use ultra-fine needles and depending on your own sensitivity level, you may feel tiny pricks when the needles are inserted.

For most people, you won’t feel anything at all.

Even if you feel a slight prick or pinching on some acupuncture points, the symptom dissipates right after the tiny needles are inserted.

Make sure you are adequately hydrated the day of your appointment and make time to use the washroom beforehand.

Try not to consume a large meal right before your appointment as you will be lying down for part or all of your treatment.

Oh, and wear comfortable clothing!

It is common to feel fatigued and sometimes aches and headaches. Don’t be alarmed! It is your body’s way of healing and adjusting to the flow of Qi.  Give your body time to heal and make sure you are drinking plenty of water and taking care of yourself internally as well!

Bruising and minor bleeding is common as well, especially after your first treatment but this only happens about 20% of the time and often heals quickly.
